All-Night Party at Tagaytay Highlands

Get ready for an all-night party at the Highlands as
the country’s premier leisure and sports haven gives
you a double treat: the phenomenal Barbie’s Cradle and
the sultry Silk in one electric
folk-meets-country-meets-jazz-meets-pop concert on
Aug.14.

These two of the country’s most sought-after concert
acts are all set to rock the place in a show dubbed
“Highlands Shindig: All Night Party with Barbie’s
Cradle and Silk” 9 p.m. at the Summer Garden of
Highlands China Palace.

Formerly known as the Hungry Young Poets, Barbie’s
Cradle is the vocal genius behind “Tabing Ilog”, the
theme song for the hit teen series of the same title.
Whether crooning wistful words of love in “Everyday”,
or sharing her thoughts on freedom in “All I Need”,
composer and lead vocalist Barbie Almalbis’ haunting
voice and poetic, reflective lyrics shine through.
Rommel de la Cruz (bass, vocals, string arrangements),
and Wendell Garcia (drums, vocals, percussion)
complete the unique package that makes Barbie’s Cradle
a force to reckon with in the local music scene.

As testament of the group’s talent, it has won awards
such as the 2001 Katha Award for Best Folk Song and
Best Folk Vocal Performance for “Dear Paul”, the 2001
NU107 Rock Awards for Best Music Video for “Money for
Food”, the 2000 Katha Award for Best Alternative Song
(“Good Night”), and the 1999 Best New Pop Alternative
Artist Award in the New Artist Awards Festival,
99.5RT.

The ultimate party band Silk is composed of three
alluring and captivating female beauties with soulful
voices – Coline Hofer, Yasmin Catrodes and Mae
Caragan. The group—whose other members are Ruel de los
Santos on keyboards, Warren de Leon on guitars, Anier
Dayan on bass, and Jason Balunes on drums—is able to
glide smoothly like, yes, silk from tunes by Geri
Halliwell to Destiny’s Child, to Janet Jackson, to
Jennifer Lopez. With other songs included in their
repertoire such as the sensual and danceable “Can’t
Get You Out Of My Head” by Kylie Minogue, the timeless
“Dancing Queen” of Abba, the bitchy “Don’t Call Me
Baby” by Madison Avenue, and a host of other pop hits,
Silk is the perfect icing on a cake that is Barbie’s
Cradle.

The concert is just one of the many exclusive treats
Tagaytay Highlands’ members and guests rave about
aside from its lavish spaces and lush greenery. Far
from being just a golfer’s paradise, this community
affords members and their families a welcome respite
from the urban rat race.

“Diversity and enjoyment of Tagaytay’s natural gifts
are actually the magic woven into the fabric of
Tagaytay Highlands that made it the country’s premier
residential and leisure development,” said Special
Events Coordinator Krisan Manalo.
