BDO Shop More MasterCard - A most rewarding treat for avid shoppers
What self-respecting mall-goer wouldn't want to shop? And who wouldn't love it even more if, just by shopping, they earned the chance to shop some more? This extended shopping privilege was the basic idea that drew a sizeable crowd to the launch of the new BDO Shop More MasterCard.
Launched with a fanfare at the SM Megamall, the new card features a unique program that give much greater Rewards points than other credit cards. It gives four times more Rewards points when used at SM Department Store, and six times more points when used at SM Supermarket and SM Appliance Center. This is in addition to the regular Rewards points cardholders earn when shopping at any MasterCard-accredited establishment.
BDO Shop More MasterCard cardholders also get to choose from any item sold at SM Department Store, SM Supermarket and 18 other retail affiliates for their Rewards, instead of leafing through a catalogue. Points earned also correspond to their actual value in pesos, making Rewards redemption much easier.
"This new offering is really the shoppers' ideal credit card. With its generous Rewards points, you'll be able to shop and shop some more - and that's a valuable thing in these economically trying times," said Nestor Tan, BDO President.
According to Jose Rene Villa-Real, Vice President and Country Manager, Philippines, MasterCard International, "We're proud to welcome the new BDO Shop More MasterCard into the MasterCard family of unique card payment products. More consumers will be able to appreciate the security and payment convenience that the MasterCard brand represents around the world."
TV personalities Paolo Bediones and Suzi Entrata hosted the event, which consisted of games segments and performances from the Akafellas, a 6-man acappella troupe. A fashion show also enthralled the audience, as it featured models carrying various shopping bags that highlighted the many unique features of the new card.
Gracing the event were top BDO officials led by Tessie Sy-Coson, Chairman; Nestor Tan, President; Jun Estela Jr., SVP Transaction Banking; Ador Abrogena, SVP Trust Banking; Evelyn Villanueva, SVP Credit & Risk Management, Shirley Sangalang, SVP Internal Audit, Edith Dychiao, VP Marketing Communications; Nannette Regala, Vice President and General Manager for BDO Cards Corp.; Susan Punsalang, VP Credit & Risk Operations; Myla Resurreccion, SAVP Quality Assurance; Emma Lacsamana, Card Operations Head; and Rozelle Papasin, Usage and Loyalty Head.

Several executives from Generali Pilipinas Insurance also graced the event: Keith Brooks, Special Projects head, Asian Operations; Gianpaolo Petroni, head of Traditional Distribution, Asia; and Cyril Flores, Vice President for Alternative Distribution.
Nannette Regala showed the audience just how rewarding it is to have the BDO Shop More MasterCard by explaining the "Shop More at SM Department Store" promotion in which cardholders can get an SM Gift Certificate worth P300 once they have P3,000 worth of charge slips of single or accumulated purchases made at any SM Department Store nationwide starting June 16 to September 15, 2004.
There are also other in-store promotions giving discounts and freebies at SM Retail Affiliates as well as many participating shops, hotels, and restaurants beyond SM premises to those who use the new card.
Moreover, approved applicants can also avail themselves of the industry's lowest balance transfer rate, at only 0.88% monthly add-on interest. This is applicable only to those who transfer amounts of P10,000 and up on an 18 month term until September 30, 2004. Other monthly terms are available with equally competitive balance transfer rates.
