"Batman Begins" Trailer Premiers August 18
Be among the first to watch the teaser trailer of "Batman Begins," Warner Bros.' much-anticipated tentpole release for 2005, when it premieres in Philippine theaters starting August 18, as an added attraction to the sci-fi thriller "Alien Vs. Predator."
Directed by Christopher Nolan ("Memento," "Insomnia"), "Batman Begins" charts the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman; Michael Caine as his trusted butler Alfred; Gary Oldman as Lieutenant James Gordon, a detective on the Gotham police force; Katie Holmes as a childhood friend of Wayne's; Liam Neeson as Wayne's mentor, Henri Ducard; Ken Watanabe as the villainous Ra's Al Ghul; Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow; and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, a former board member and sidelined employee of Wayne Enterprises.
The teaser trailer debuted recently on the internet, and was enthusiastically greeted with raves. A message to the popular AICN fansite (aintitcoolnews.com) says, "It's with abundant joy that we greet Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins," a film which promises to not only restore Batman to his rightful place, but to propel him to new heights altogether.
"From the outset it's clear that Nolan has taken a very different approach to the character, delivering on his promise to make the story more 'real' than its predecessors," the review continues. "Granting brief glimpses of the Dark Knight's origin, the teaser trailer - aided by Christian Bale's gravelly commentary - charts the vigilante's origin as he recounts the death of his parents and the subsequent pilgrimage to Asia where he will meet Ken Watanabe's Ra's Al Ghul.
"There's only the briefest glimpse of the bat costume itself and absolutely nothing of his opponents or his 'wonderful toys', but the message from the teaser is clear: Chris Nolan isn't messing about. It's early days yet but we don't mind saying that this could very well be the film that Batman fans have spent their lives waiting for."
Opening across the Philippines in 2005, "Batman Begins" is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Entertainment Company.
