Newbie on the beauty block: Maybelline Dream Matte Foundation

Cake, liquid, gel or mousse? When it comes to choosing a foundation, there are no hard and fast rules. What works for you may not necessarily work for the other because we have different skin types that range from oily, dry to combination skin. In my case, I alternate between a cake and liquid foundation because I have oily combination skin. I've tried gel foundations but I found out that you have to work real fast it dries out even before you're done. I've switched to mousse formulations since it was introduced and I've never gone back to liquid and cake foundations since.

Incidentally, I was at the Landmark Makati when I chanced upon a promo offer that gives out Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in 2 ml sachets when you buy a Moisture Extreme lipstick for P399. This lipstick is their latest with Ziyi Zhang of Geisha fame as endorser. Buy two lipsticks and you get a Fruity Jelly Lip Gloss + vitamins. Great for chapped lips, love that fruity scent.

What's great about this lipstick is that it provides three times more moisture because it has a built in lip balm that repair and protect lips. It has SPF 15 and contains vitamin C, E and jojoba. The saleslady said the Windsor Rose is the most saleable color but my fave colors are Mystic Burgundy and Plum because it looks great on me.

Anyway back to foundations. I so love this latest from Maybelline. The Dream Matte Mousse Foundation by Maybelline glides smoothly on skin and has a silky soft feel. You can even use you fingers to apply it. Apart from providing complete coverage because it can double as a concealer, this air-whipped mousse is so light it feels as though you're not wearing foundation at all. It has eight shades but I use True Beige. It blends well with with my skin and turns dewy to sheer at mid day but other than re-touching at the T-zone with my Cover Girl compact foundation, the over-all effect is great.
