Oris Big Crown - The Choice for
'Wings Around the World'

A legendary Oris Big Crown Pilot's watch has been chosen for a unique charitable mission: to support the 'Wings Around the World II - Voyage to the Ice.' Oris, a sponsor and official watch partner of the mission, is supporting the flight of English pilot Polly Vacher in a single-engined Piper Dakota. The daring journey over the ice caps will raise funds for the charity 'Flying Scholarships for the Disabled.'

Oris' sponsorship is perfectly combined with its tradition of manufacturing pilot's watches. The watch with its special pointer calendar and dig crown was developed for American pilots during World War II and is representative of pioneering acts such as those undertaken by Polly Vacher, the courageous fundraiser.

The edition is limited to 2,000 watches, all individually numbered and equipped with a mechanical automatic movement of high quality. The black dial displays the 'Wings Around the World II' logo, while the back of its stainless steel case is individually numbered from 0001/2000 to 2000/2000 and bears Polly Vacher's signature.

This edition comes as an exclusive set, which includes maps of historic expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic regions - complemented by a depiction of Polly Vacher's route.

Polly's mission for disabled student pilots, her second record-breaking flight since 2001 with the same purpose, will also serve as a research project. During this venture, the independent MIRCE Academy will be testing the performance of the single-engined aeroplane under extreme operating conditions and constant load.

As a partner of 'Wings Around the World II,' Oris will be showing its appreciation for the pilot's magnificent aeronautical and charitable project with a pilot's watch edition that is precisely tailored to such a pioneering act.

Polly Vacher, pilot and founder of the Wings Around the World mission is already convinced: "Having worn an Oris watch for my first solo circumnavigation of the world, I can definitely say this ranks among the finest watches in the world."
